In parallel to the ERDF Competitiveness Programme, activity related to the new European Social Fund Programme will mainly be managed / coordinated within the UK. EMEO will, however, seek to cover a number of areas related to the employment and social policy brief:

• Support regarding the implementation of the new ESF Programme;

• 2008 - EU Year of Inter-Cultural Dialogue; and

• Communication on the impact of demographic change on infrastructure and services - launch of EU wide policy measures.
