East Midlands MEPs & CoR Members
The East Midlands has nine representatives in the EU institutions - six Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and three Members of the Committee of the Regions.
MEPs are directly elected to the European Parliament every five years, and each have a mandate to represent the East Midlands. The European Parliament shares responsibility for decision-making with the Member States in many policy areas.
The Committee of the Regions is a consultative body, whose task is to represent the interests of local and regional government. Elected members from councils across the EU are nominated onto the CoR.
